Beverley's Flower Garden is situated in South Australia

Welcome to our garden...

In 1988 our four acre property on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia was largely a bare paddock with a few olive and gum trees dotted on the steep hillside. We are slowly transforming this into a busy habitat for all kinds of critters, including ourselves! Gardens aren't just for admiring pretty flowers. The many flowers we grow attract insects which encourage frogs, birds and lizards. There is always something to admire in the garden! We hope you enjoy a glimpse at the wonders in our growing garden.

To help you find your way around the site is loosely organised into types of flowers by species. For ease of viewing the flowers there are 9 images on each page. As our collection of flowers grows we intend to add new gallery pages to each category. Many of the plants in our garden were gifts and we don't know their names: we hope that eventually, with the help of our local nurseries, we'll be able to identify them all.

Over the coming months and years we plan to gradually add new flowers, so please bookmark this site and visit regularly.

Flowers bring beauty to the garden. Beauty, in turn, brings a sense of wonder, awe and peace. It's difficult to touch a flower without feeling amazement at the perferction and complexity of the natural world.

People have always had a natural affinity for flowers. In ancient times flowers were used to decorate homes and bodies, especially during celebrations. We continue this tradition today with gifts of flowers, bouquets and wreaths for birthdays, weddings and funerals.

Many flowers can be eaten, either as they are or glaced, dusted with sugar, or pickled. Flower essences are extracted and used medicinally as well as for aromatherapy. Flowers lift up our spirits and bring brightness and colour to our day.

Thank you for visiting!
